Lay Community Health Advisors - ON-CALL

The ON-CALL project addresses one of the most pertinent issues affecting families and communities across Europe today – health literacy. Health literacy relates to our ability to understand basic health information and to make informed and healthy decisions for our minds and bodies. Through our research, we have found that families and communities with low levels of health literacy are often mis-informed about issues affecting their health and as such, make poor decisions related to their health. As such, through the ON-CALL project, we are working to raise awareness of the importance of health literacy in promoting healthy communities, and we will also train local community advisors to support families and communities to make healthier choices in their daily lives, while also promoting positive mental health.
